Should india host d commonwealth games spending thousands of crores when on the other hand, people are dying of poverty..??

Hi Ashutosh,

Its really good that you are worried about the poor and down trodden
people.. and also abt the hard earned tax payers money.. yes our
country has the lakhs of people earnin less than 2 $ a day.. but thats
only one side of the story..

u need to remember that we are a developing super power... and its not
enough if we proclaim ourself as one but the world has to accept our
version.. events like the cwg propel our status to new heights because
not every other country can organise a grand event like this with
around 6,700 athletes from 53 countries. ( do you think a country like
pakistan can host one no hard feelings.. using it jus as an example).

you must realise that people all over the world still see india as a
country which is full of poverty and people who are illiterate and
superstitious (hard to believe but true...!!) events like these force
them to change their vision about our country.

organising an event as big as this... successfully... proves our point
to the world that india is a safe country.. by all means to tour
invest.. both help in accumulating valuable forex, not all at once but
over a period of time surely.

our athletes can get a taste of world class facilities, train
themselves to perform better.. because winning a medal is always a
matter of pride for the entire nation.

only 28,054 cr Rs were officially spent on developing the
infrastructure to host the games.. (refer
httptimesofindia.indiatimes.comsportscommonwealth-
games-2010newsRs-28054-crore-spent-on-Commonwealth-Games-
Reddyarticleshow6282261.cms ) & also remember lots of daily laborers
mostly from uttar pradesh, rajasthan and haryana would have also
earned their bread thanks to cwg. ( not all the money has gone into
pockets of corrupt officials.. thank god )

Yes, we face a lots of problems on our domestic front, problems like
over population, poverty, illiteracy, health, development of basic
amenities and infra structure, corruption, terrorism, separatism,
communalism and what not... strangle us daily..but it should not stop
us from reaching new heights, heights which only other countries can
dream of.. thats why we send missions to the moon, develop indigenous
missiles and of course host international events like these etc.. to
show the world that we are second to none.

yes prodigal expenditure has been done for organizing the games and
careful scrutiny could have saved atleast 5,000 cr.
(but thats how our country runs). hopefully justice will find its own
course and the corrupt officials would be punished. but events like
this are definitely need to be held..though not at the expense of the
poor but certainly along side the welfare programs undertaken for
their upliftment.

Jagan to launch new political party

Kadapa (AP), Dec 7 (PTI) Days after quitting Congress as well as Lok Sabha, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today announced that he will launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh in 45 days.

The former Congress MP also told his supporters in his home town Pulivendula near here that the 2014 Assembly elections in the state would be his "finals".

Jagan had resigned from the Congress and Lok Sabha on Monday last alleging that the party leadership, including Sonia Gandhi, had "insulted and humiliated" his family.

At today''s meeting, Jagan said 2014, when Assembly elections are due in Andhra Pradesh, would be his "finals".

He claimed the late YSR''s supporters would bless and support his new party.

why the hell is every1 after jagan...

ppl here seem to forget that we are in india.. here politicians dont do any good to any one...be it chandrababu, chiranjeevi, ysr, sonia, advani... any1.. every1 is after something or the other.. some ppl r jus better than others.. ysr was a good leader.. knows what 2 give ppl...to achieve what he wants...

ppl criticising ysr here.. do u really know wht life is for a daily labourer..?? what a heart operation 2 a kid means to them.??? owing a home..??? gettin a loan for 25ps interest..??? waving off electricity bills to farmers.. tell me another politician who would have the balls even to think of these schemes..?? these schemes didnot reach the poor was a major criticism.. yes ysr has to be blamed for this..but Its ppl like u n me.. who dont do anything except for criticisng who needs to be blamed.. bureaucrats the ones who execute the policies ( i am sure u know a few) r d one who should be blamed..

nxt was the issue or corruption.. every bloody politician is corrupt here... when he spends 10-25 cr jus to win 1 election.. what do expect from him.. to help poor people all day long.. then he would surely end up being poor n would need ur help.

jagan i feel has enough money atleast 10-20k cr under his belt n no one can question how he got them even if he is not in the congress.. v all know that.. power is a technical term.. u only seem to be after sakshi and mines.. he even has many power and infrastructure projects in many states.. nobody seems to recognise them.. earnin money initially is difficult.. later money multiplies all by itself... u jus need a good backin n a bussiness brain..

corruption which ppl talk abt was even more rampant in chandrababu naidus regime.. why do u think hitech city is in madhapur.. dont u know the reason.. ppl seemed to forget these.. atleast jagan knows how to fight like a leader than backstab ppl and stands upto his words..good or bad.. not like the former chief minister.. who says give telangana one day and the very next day backs from hi words sayin.. the issue is in the hands of the center... what credibility.??

if jagan thinks he can manage a party... lead the state... be the nxt cm.. its not the 30% of ppl who are loggin on to internet to decide.. the rest 70% do hv a major say.. i must say the shift is towards TDP now.. but this fella is one tough nut to crack u must admit.. not every1 can @#$% sonia gandhi.. and the very fact that daily mla's n mp's from congress seem to be after jagan.. confirms the fact..that they r afraid..may be very afraid.. he is not even into assembly yet... n this is the case.. think of what may happen if he sits right b4 their eyes evry day of the session criticising them..

i personally feel the days for single largest party is over in andhra pradesh now.. coalations rule is the future with so many parties around.. but certainly the congress party is gonna end up like bihar.. i ma pretty sure no one see's sonia gandhi and votes for congress... INC has its own charm be it rajiv, sonia or rahul.. with no local leader to look up to nad with spilt in their votin they will definetly be kicked black and blue.. out of power.. jus like in bihar..

may the best man win.. lets wait till 2014..

The 3G scam

  • Maran.D.M Wed 08 Dec 2010 06:26 PM IST Report Abuse
Latest 3G auctioned for 60,000 crores, how come the old version 2G worth 1.75 lakhs crores ? I don't find any logic. Does anyone purchase flat color TV which priced higher than the LCD TV ? Does the communication ministry control over the share market ? where the audit found the possible loss. Even the part govt. sector BSNL owns whole 2G I doubt that they could make profit of the said amount.

Su.Swamy is a crazy person who loves publicity and his name to be echoed every media. We know his past history, he did nothing other than some funny interview in media. Since Su.Swamy involved, we can assume that the case has no stuff.

This is the play among medias and the telecom companies. I think Raja is safe because 1.He followed the rules which framed already. 2. So far there is no evidence that Raja got benefited.

Other than congress, all its central partners are ready for JPC. I am sure that JPC will bring some immediate temporary political advantage to opposition parties. Nothing will happen after that.

We have agree the bitter truth that the case will not be ended within 20-30 years. For example 64 crore scam plum case against Jayalalitha still in documents translation stage, calculate the number of years required for 2G scam.

i hope ur analysis is true sir.. esp. the example of the tv :).. but why did Mr. A. Raja didnot tk the advise of the pm, fm, law ministry seriously n acted according to his own rules.. may be he knows better abt DOT than does the pm..

i'm not an expert on this subject..but why did the CBI raid his house in delhi n ancestral home in chennai along with some of his key aides today.. if he has done nothing wrong how could they even get a warrant without providing sufficient proof of his hand in to this.?? tht too being a very imp ally in the ruling UPA II.

as u have said "he case will not be ended within 20-30 years".. thts very true.. if the CBI takes it up..nothings gonna happen.. jus like it did in BOFORS scam... evry1 would walk free.. tht the reason they have been askin for a JPC probe.. i personally feel A. Raja is jus a starting point in this matter.. dont know how many big shots n politicians more r involved.. only time will tell.. if possible plz do have a look into Niira Radia Tapes scandal.. u would understand wht i am talkin about.. but this would surely be disgrace to the entire UPA in the future. whether there is any political advantage to opposition parties..only time will tell..
